TRANSPORT & ROAD CLOSURES

Road Closure Event Alert

The Sunday Mail Transurban Bridge to Brisbane is Queensland’s largest community fun run.

This year we will celebrate our 25th year by welcoming 30,000 runners and walkers back to the iconic Gateway Bridge on Sunday, November 7, 2021. The course will start on the southern side of the Brisbane River at Murarrie, over the Sir Leo Hielscher Bridge (Gateway Bridge), along Kingsford Smith Drive and the Inner City Bypass, finishing at the Brisbane Showgrounds.

The event is developed in consultation with the Queensland Police Service, Brisbane City Council, Transurban and other relevant authorities. There will be a number of road closures in place across the course to ensure the safety of our participants and the general public. A summary of all roads used including road and lane closures is outlined in the table below.

During the Gateway Bridge southbound closure, Clem7 southbound and AirportlinkM7 southbound will be toll free between 5:00am and 9:30am, thanks to our major sponsor Transurban.

Public Transport

There will be free public transport for all participants and volunteers on race day until 3pm! All you will need to do is present your race number or volunteer shirt.

Buses will run from the three public transport hubs Eight Mile Plains, Carindale, and Chermside and various stops along the way to both the 4.5km and 10km start lines. Buses will drop participants back to these hubs from the finish line post-race.

For the 10km course only, there will be additional Queensland Rail services to drop participants at Murarrie Station. Spectators should not travel to the 10km start line as there will be no return service.

The public transport timetables are scheduled to be released shortly and should be available on the Journey Planner on the Translink website.

Please stay COVID Safe and follow the direction of Translink staff. For more information about COVID Safe travel, read here.
