Channel Nine’s Andrew Lofthouse is no stranger to The Sunday Mail Bridge to Brisbane, with a reputation for bringing his best to the start line every year.
With an illustrious, long-standing career in media, Andrew is running in aid of Prostate Cancer Research, and we sat down to ask a little more about his assault on The Sunday Mail Bridge to Brisbane!
A little bit about yourself:
I am a keen runner and sports lover, living near the beach. I have worked in the media for 30 years.
Why did you choose Bridge to Brisbane?
I like the 10k distance and the course through the city is great fun, especially with a big crowd – it creates a great atmosphere.
5 What event are you participating in and who will you be running with?
I’ll be doing the 10k event with some friends and work mates from Channel Nine.
If you could get one message out to people, following your personal experiences, what would it be?
Try to look after your health as best you can. Find a type of exercise that you enjoy and make it part of your lifestyle
Name three things that are key to living a fulfilled life:
Good health, optimism and action.
Where is your favourite spot to go for a run in Brisbane?
The Brisbane River Path.
If you could go for a run with one person (celebrity or not), who would it be and why? Rob De Castella. Great Australian runner. I’d like to think some of his technique and stamina might magically rub off on me.
Top tip for people training from Bridge to Brisbane:
Set a goal. Get good shoes. Set out a regular training program and stick to it.
