Name: Sahar Bilney
Fundraising for: Fundraising for Dolly’s Dream Team because I believe that awareness of bullying and the devastating consequences and effects it can have are important!
A little bit about yourself: I’m originally from overseas, now living in Australia for the past 12.5 years. I have a 6 year old daughter. I like to run, dance, read and laugh (mostly at myself)!
Why did you choose Bridge to Brisbane? I participated in The Sunday Mail Bridge to Brisbane last year and I enjoyed it, despite the heavy rainfall. I think that was actually my favourite part of the whole run, if I’m being honest, so decided to come back again this year.
What event are you participating in and who will you be running with? • This is a bit unusual, but I will be doing the 10km, and I will be running it with the principal of my daughters primary school! It came about because I’m Deafblind. In order to participate in any running events, I need to have a sighted person running with me, acting as my guide. My usual guide that I go running with will be away at the time The Bridge to Brisbane event is held this year, so I put a little mini challenge on the school principal – for him to be my guide this year at Race Day this year while we fundraise. To my surprise he accepted the challenge and that’s how it came about that I will be running with him!
Where is your favourite spot to go for a run in Brisbane? Any Parkrun north of Brisbane. And also any Twilight fun runs 🙂
If you could go for a run with one person (celebrity or not), who would it be and why? Michelle Jones. Definitely. She’s my favourite athlete I would say
Top tip for people training from Bridge to Brisbane: Just go out there on the day and have fun!!!
