Yep, that’s right, we’re officially less than one month out from Race Day! If this news is sending off an alarm in your head, don’t stress – we’ve got your back!
To help you prep for what to expect on 25 August, we are sharing three of the must-dos for anyone planning to tackle The Sunday Mail Bridge to Brisbane this year.
Better late than never
The start line is edging closer and closer, but that doesn’t mean it’s too late to begin your Bridge to Brisbane journey! There is still time to to sign up as an individual, or in a team with your friends, family or work colleagues. If you’re looking for some training inspo to help you hit the 10km course, check out our blog post from Anytime Fitness with some helpful tips. Alternatively, if you’re keen to conquer the 5km with a team, you may want to read up on how to motivate your team to Race Day success.
General Entries are still open, so register here before Race Day to secure your spot at the Start Line.
Plan your day
To avoid last-minute stress, you need to consider how you will be getting to the event and how far in advance you need to leave home (allowing for some potential traffic if you’re driving!). We recommend all participants take advantage of the free public transport on offer on Race Day – you can plan your journey via Translink’s Journey Planner.
Other key things to set out at least the day prior are your Race Day kit, including your Bridge to Brisbane bib, best running shoes, and choice of outfit, whether that be activewear or a creative costume. It is an early start to the day after all, and the last thing you’ll want to be doing is running around the house at 5am looking for your shoes!
P.S. If you’re planning to sport your best fancy dress, don’t forget to snap a photo in your costume on race day and upload it to your Facebook or Instagram with the hashtag #bridgetobrisbane for your chance to win a cash prize!
Celebrations start at the Finish Line
And here you were thinking it was all over once you cross the Finish Line… think again, because this is the time to celebrate your success!
South Bank comes alive on Sunday, 25 August as Little Stanley Street and parts of the Parklands transform into our Finish Village, placing food, music, massages and more all be within a few steps of the Finish Line. Outside the Finish Village, select South Bank retailers will offering special deals and discounts for Bridge to Brisbane participants – simply show your race bib to access these exclusive deals – and, since Race Day will be officially done and dusted, you can treat yourself to something extra delicious completely guilt-free!
Bonus tip: You can also download our new Bridge to Brisbane Mobile App for the ultimate event experience. This will give you easy access to everything from interactive course maps, selfie filters for your socials, race day and transport information, plus a live tracking feature for you and your friends!
