Did you know it’s scientifically proven that music helps you run?! It pumps you up, gets you in the mood and helps you keep a solid running pace. Well, that is if you choose the right songs. As much as we love a good ballad, it may not cut the mustard 4km in to a 10km charge towards the finish line.
Lucky for you, we’ve got friends in high places – check out a few of Triple M’s picks (along with some of our own top tunes!) to help motivate your training for Bridge to Brisbane 2019:
Viva La Vida – Coldplay
Ever tried sitting still to this classic? It’s not possible! Viva La Vida is without a doubt one of the easiest ways to start your run. A steady, moderate pace to get you warm and put you in the zone without you even realising.
Smells Like Teen Spirit – Nirvana
If you don’t agree with this one, then you haven’t played it loud enough! Smells Like Teen Spirit is the perfect running/ jogging song – it reeks of heavy beats and boss attitude, perfect for those big training days.
Let There Be Rock – AC/DC
You’ll want to speed up here and get those legs moving. AC/DC starts you off at a decent 134 BPM and before you know it, you’re running at 158BPM. It’s the secret to pushing yourself faster while your mind thinks you’re just maintaining a steady pace. Although, once the song ends you might be wondering where your stride went.
Eye of The Tiger – Survivor
The thing about this age-old song is: you just can’t escape it. So why bother trying? Just imagine crossing the finish line to this track and you’ll forever associate that adrenaline filled feeling to this song. Before you know it, you’ll need it every time you run.
Timebomb – WALK THE MOON
WALK THE MOON is well known for their upbeat songs, but this new 2019 track gets your blood pumping even getting wallflowers out onto the dancefloor (or race track!). With this song, you’ll find yourself running to a solid beat that drowns out the reverberation of your feet hitting the floor and brightens even the dreariest of mornings.
Flake – FIDLAR
FIDLAR’s new 2019 track boasts a strong, steady base to get your blood pumping. It doesn’t take much brain power to pay attention to their easy lyrics, making it the perfect background music to your runners high.
