With just 8 weeks until Transurban Bridge to Brisbane presented by Brooks, now’s the perfect time to start preparing for your 5km or 10km.

Already comfortably running 5km or 10km? You’re probably well on track. This guide is for those who are just getting started, returning to exercise, or taking on their first Bridge to Brisbane.

The good news? Eight weeks is plenty of time to build your fitness and arrive at the start line feeling confident. Whether you’re planning to walk, jog or run, consistency is key.

Training for the Blue Run 5km

The Blue Run 5km is perfect for beginners, families or anyone looking to get active. Aim for three sessions each week, starting with a mix of walking and jogging if needed. Gradually increase the amount of time you’re moving, and you’ll be surprised how quickly your fitness improves.

Taking on the La Roche-Posay 10km?

If you’ve entered the La Roche-Posay 10km, focus on building your endurance with three sessions each week:

  • One easy walk or run
  • One longer session
  • One session with some faster efforts or hills

Try to build up to around 8km before race day to give yourself confidence.

A few simple tips

  • Train in the shoes you’ll wear on race day.
  • Add one or two simple body-weight strength sessions each week to help prevent injury.
  • Stay hydrated and make time for recovery.
  • Don’t worry about speed, just focus on getting out there consistently.

Every walk, jog or run gets you one step closer to the finish line.

The countdown is on. Lace up, get moving and we’ll see you at the 30th anniversary of Transurban Bridge to Brisbane presented by Brooks!
