Five Minutes with Kendall Gilding

Name: Kendall Gilding

Role: 7NEWS Presenter

Why are you taking part in The Sunday Mail Transurban Bridge to Brisbane?
I love our city, so I always want to be at the centre of what’s happening in Brisbane. This is the biggest running event each year and I can’t wait to surround myself with others looking to get outdoors, raise funds and celebrate our beautiful home.

Have you participated in the event before?
I haven’t taken part in the Bridge to Brisbane before, and honestly I’m not a natural runner, but I love events and people – so I can’t wait to be in the action!

What event are you participating in and who will you be running with?
I haven’t decided yet if I’ll be able to run the 10km, or if I’ll walk 4.5km with my daughter. We walk together almost daily – so it’s a usual bonding activity.

Of all the worthy causes to support, why have you chosen to support your chosen charity?
I’m a proud Ambassador of Foodbank and as an organisation they’re taking part in what they’re calling Fridge to Brisbane. I’m passionate about tackling food insecurity in our state! Every month 12,000 Queenslanders who need food relief go without!

Where is your favourite spot to go for a run in Brisbane and why?
I’ve always loved running along the Brisbane river, anywhere from New Farm to South Bank or Kangaroo Point.

If you could go for a run with one person in the world (celebrity or not), who would it be and why?
Maya Angelou – I’d love to pick her brain! The conversation would make the run effortless.

Top tip for people training for The Sunday Mail Transurban Bridge to Brisbane?

The first kilometre or two is always the hardest. Once you’re warmed up and in the flow, it’s easy to keep going!
